Rokform Crystal iPhone 18 Pro Max Case Review

The Crystal is Rokform’s clear case. You can see your iPhone through the back, and it still has RokLock mounting built into the case, very strong magnets, and lots of protection.

Design and Protection

This Rokform case lets you see straight through it. If your iPhone has color to the back, you’ll be able to see it through the case. My black iPhone doesn’t show a lot, but a colored one will. Mine has collected a little bit of dust from being in my pocket.

There’s lots of protection. The whole camera module is covered, and there’s a lot of protection around the corners. Rokform says the Crystal has the same drop rating as their Rugged case, exceeding military drop test standards with 360-degree protection against drops up to six feet.

RokLock Mounting

Rokform makes cases that are rugged and also have a variety of different ways to attach to different items, and that’s integrated into the case. They’ve gone about it in a unique way by letting you plug the spot where the mounts snap in. You don’t need an open, attachable bracket on the back of your phone all the time, and a lot of times that’s a way to collect lint or get caught on different things.

When you want to mount your phone, you take the plug out and put the phone back in the case. That’s where RokLock, Rokform’s twist-lock system, snaps onto the mount. The phone magnetically guides itself into place on the mount, and then you snap and lock it with a quarter turn. This is not coming off. You’re not just relying on magnets here. You can even pry on it, and it’s not going to come off. Whether you’re on a bike, a motorcycle, an ATV, or a side-by-side, you can confidently know your phone isn’t going to fly off. To detach it, you just turn it and lift.

Rokform Mounts

There’s a wide variety of Rokform mounts on their website. The mount I used with the Crystal is like your standard bicycle mount, and they also have an out-the-front bicycle mount and a variety of other mounts, everything from simple mounts to mounts with integrated chargers that support MagSafe charging. Rokform says RokLock works with all of their bike, motorcycle, and car twist-lock mounts.

Rokform says their Universal Bike Bar Mount installs tool-free in under a minute and stays secure over potholes. In the car, I use the Rokform Magnetic Windshield Car Charger, which suction cups to the glass, and Rokform says it offers fast wireless charging.

MagSafe and the MAGMAX Plug

The Crystal is MagSafe compatible, and the magnets are very strong. Attach a typical MagSafe ring, and you’re not going to have to worry about that phone going anywhere. So even if you’re just using MagSafe to attach your phone to something, you won’t have any issues.

It also comes with a MAGMAX magnetic plug that goes right in the back, and that’s where the bulk of the magnet is. So you’ve got your MagSafe magnets plus an additional magnet in the middle. I put a wrench on the back of the phone, and that wrench wasn’t going anywhere. If you want to attach your phone to something magnetic, it’s going to attach and stay. Rokform says MAGMAX magnets have up to three times the holding power of ordinary MagSafe.

You get two plugs in the box. Along with the MAGMAX plug, the Crystal comes with a clear plug. If you don’t need the extra magnetic strength, just leave the clear plug in, and it’s the one Rokform has you put in place when you want to wireless charge.

Buttons and Camera Control

The integrated buttons are very responsive and easy to use, with nice tactile feedback. The camera control button is really, really responsive. I’d say it’s even more responsive than using the camera control button on the phone without a case. Zooming in or out, lightly double pressing to get into your different camera modes and camera styles, going back to zoom, and pressing down to take a picture all work really well. I really like that about their integrated button.

There’s also an attachment point for a lanyard if you want to add one to your case.

Who the Rokform Crystal Is For

If you want to see the color of your iPhone through your case but still want to mount your phone on a bike, a motorcycle, an ATV, or a side-by-side, this is the case. With the amount of magnets in this case, there’s an endless number of ways you can use it to mount your phone or put it somewhere safe.

If you don’t care about seeing your phone through the case, Rokform’s Rugged case has the same RokLock system.
