Spigen Ultra Hybrid iPhone 18 Pro Max Case Review
A nice, simple, slim case that adds a good layer of protection and looks good while doing it. The magnets are really strong, but I would say it's a little slick.

What We Like
- Nice, clean, slim design with minimal branding
- Really strong magnets, so strong that rotating a magnet on the back is really hard
- Nice, responsive integrated buttons and camera control button
- Frosted back lets the Apple logo show through
- Covers everything on the back except what needs to be exposed
- Raised edge on the back keeps the case from getting scratched up on the table
What Could Improve
- It's a little slick, so it's not the case for you if you want a ton of grip
- It would protect against drops, but big drops might be a different story
- Only a little bit of screen-down protection, so I recommend a screen protector with it
Video Review
The Ultra Hybrid from Spigen has always been a nice, clean case. Spigen has been making the Ultra Hybrid series for a long time, and they make it for pretty much every flagship phone out there. It’s a nice slim case with minimal branding. You’ve got the Spigen branding right on the side.
It’s one of the 17 cases I tested for the iPhone 18 Pro Max. I had it on the black iPhone 18 Pro Max, where it looks absolutely fantastic.
Design and Feel
What I love about this case is that it’s minimal. It has kind of a frosted back, so you can see the Apple logo through it, and you can see the additional magnets that are there for MagSafe.
I also love that it completely covers everything on the back of the phone, with the exception of the cameras, the flash, the sensor, and of course the cutout for the microphone. Everything that needs to be exposed is exposed, but everything else is covered up, and it just looks really good.
The case feels really good in the hand. I would say it is a little slick, though. If you want a case that has a ton of grip to hold on to, this is not going to be the case for that.
Buttons and Magnets
The integrated buttons are nice and responsive, and so is the camera control button. No problems there with that button.
The magnet on the Ultra Hybrid series has just always been top notch. When I tested it on this one, rotating a magnet around on the back was really hard because the magnet is so strong. It’s most definitely going to survive the shake test. No issues there.
Protection
This case has a little bit of a raised edge on the back. That way, the back of the case isn’t coming in contact with the table, just the edges are. So when you set it down, the back of your case isn’t getting scratched up as it slides around the table. The brunt of that is hitting the edges, including the edges along the bottom of the case. That allows for some additional protection and keeps the case looking nice. It also sits nice and flat, with no rocking or any issues like that.
It has a little bit of screen-down protection on the sides. Not a lot. I do have a screen protector on my phone already, so that does take away from a little bit of the protection. With cases like this, I usually recommend a screen protector anyway, just because the slimmer, more form-fitting cases are better designed to provide protection from everyday use.
A case like this would protect your phone against drops, but big drops might be a different story.
Who the Spigen Ultra Hybrid Is For
If you like a minimal look, this is a nice, simple, slim case that adds a good layer of protection and looks good while doing it.
What’s great about this series is that the Ultra Hybrid is also available for other things, like your AirPods, and I think they also have one for the Apple Watch. So if you want to go with a similar look across your different devices, Spigen does a great job with that.
